Licensed Group Therapist Clinician

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year

Hourly $40.87/hour to $45.67/hour

Company Description

Protected Roots Integrative (PRI) Treatment Center is a mental health facility located in San Diego, CA, focused on providing care for adolescents, young adults, and families. Our tailored approach to sustained recovery uses evidence-based clinical interventions, cultural protective factors, strength-based values, and social connection.

Role Description

The Mental Health Provider is expected to provide therapy for the patients treated at PRI. This includes completing intakes; meeting with patients individually, dyadically, or with families; and supervising trainees within their scope. Experience with assessment interpretation is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Can practice therapy in the state of California (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD/PhD, etc.)
  • Prior knowledge and experience with outpatient therapy and intensive outpatient programs
  • Prior knowledge and experience with evidence-based treatments

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary contact for patients
  • Complete intake interviews with incoming patients
  • Work with patients directly to assist in the identification of problems list
  • Collaborate with patient to design and implement treatment plan objectives
  • Provide individual, parent coaching, couples, family, and group therapy
  • Support trainees via curbside consultation, in cofacilitation of groups, and other training needs as appropriate to personal competencies
  • Record proper documentation in a timely manner

 

Competencies

Core Competencies – Demonstrates proficiency in independently carrying out all of the following:

1) Effective provision of psychotherapy

  • In the following formats: Individual, Couples, Group, and Family therapy
  • With at least two of the following modalities: ACT, CBT, DBT, IPT-A, CFF-CBT, TF-CBT, and CPP


2) Effectively facilitates intake interviews (i.e. admission prescreens, intakes, and assessments)

3) Produces high quality clinical documentation that is coherent, comprehensive & accurate.

1) Crisis Intervention

  • Demonstrates ability to respond effectively in an emergency
  • Facilitates a safe, appropriate intervention in response to client crisis


2) De-escalation

  • Effectively displays & utilizes non-verbal communication cues i.e. body language
  • Able to verbally resolve conflicts and crises that may arise in a clinic.

We are looking for an organized, compassionate, and motivated person to join our team as an Office Coordinator. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in the mental health field, and work with a multimodal treatment team that includes Clinical Psychologists, Board Certified Psychiatrists, and Marriage and Family Therapists.

Programs Description

Protected Roots Integrative (PRI) Treatment Center is a mental health treatment center for adolescents, young adults, and families based in San Diego, California. Our mission is to mission is to support our patients in achieving lasting mental health recovery and wellness by integrating academic medicine with community values. Our programs include Partial Hospitalization Program, Intensive Outpatient Program, Outpatient Program, and an ADHD Intensive Outpatient Program.

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) at PRI is a structured and intensive treatment program formatted for individuals who need comprehensive support but do not require 24-hour inpatient care. This level of care is a step down from a residential program. PHP provides a higher level of care than traditional outpatient programs by offering a mix of therapeutic activities and services for seven hours a day, five days a week. This

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to provide the support and treatment for adolescents, young adults, need while allowing them to maintain their daily routines, including attending school, work and participating in family activities. IOP runs three hours per day, three to five days a week.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support daily operations for Adolescent and Young adult PHP, IOP, and OP sessions, including taking attendance, processing cancellations and communicating late fees, scheduling follow ups, assisting with patient/family inquiries, and monitoring insurance requirements.
  • Check in adolescent PHP patients, assess and manage safety risks, and lead coordination with opening and closing tasks among staff.
  • Opening/closing duties and maintaining cleanliness of entire clinic, including therapy rooms, group rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen area.
  • Monitor whereabouts and safety of patients, assist clinical staff as needed with group facilitation, program breaks, and program mealtimes.
  • Oversee and coordinate administrative functions such as scheduling, filing, record keeping, and data entry.
  • Manage office supplies inventory and request more as needed.
  • Coordinate meetings for staff members.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to multitask and manage competing priorities, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Degree in humanities (preferably psychology or related field).
  • Demonstrated experience handling protected health information per HIPAA, maintaining confidentiality, and relating to diverse populations.
    Experience working in mental health or related fields, especially ABA or hospital administration.
    Demonstrated knowledge of standard food safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and mandated reporter guidelines.
  • Comfort working with patients of all ages, especially adolescents and families in a professional capacity.
  • The ability to lift 50lbs and ambulate through an office setting.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a front desk/office management role, including answering phone lines, scheduling in EHR/EMR systems, and resolving customer issues.
  • Knowledge of current mental health diagnoses and therapeutic modalities.
  • Crisis management experience, medical facility operations experience, or restaurant/service industry experience.
  • Warm and friendly demeanor and comfortability with professional phone, email, and text communication etiquette.

About Us

Protected Roots Integrative (PRI) Treatment Center provides mental health and substance use treatment for adolescents, young adults, and families in San Diego, California. Our Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) serve adolescent and transitional age youth populations dealing with moderate to severe mental health and substance use concerns. Our team consists of clinical staff (M.D., PsyD, PMHNP, LMFT, LCSW, AMFT, APCC, and ACSW) and dedicated administrative and mental health support staff.

Position Summary

PRI is seeking a creative, organized, and dedicated individual to work with our adolescent population as a mental health technician. This role combines direct patient support, safety monitoring, behavioral health intervention, and administrative coordination to help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for adolescents in treatment. Full time M-F preferred.

This role is an opportunity for anyone with experience in hospital or residential behavioral health settings to apply their skills in an integrative outpatient setting. This is also an opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in mental health to learn from a variety of disciplines and modalities used by our clinical treatment team. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves working with kids, is comfortable creating collaborative activities on the fly, and exhibits excellent interpersonal and de-escalation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient safety, behaviors, whereabouts, and emotional well-being throughout the treatment day
  • Support clinicians during groups, meals, breaks, and therapeutic activities
  • Assist with patient check-in, attendance, scheduling coordination, and family communication
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and behavioral management strategies during moments of distress or crisis
  • Create and facilitate collaborative recreational, art, and therapeutic break-time activities that promote engagement, socialization, and emotional regulation
  • Document patient observations, incidents, and administrative information accurately and promptly
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of therapy rooms, group spaces, kitchen areas, and shared clinic spaces
  • Assist with opening/closing duties and day-to-day program operations
  • Support administrative tasks including scheduling, filing, data entry, and insurance-related tracking
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance at all times

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social sciences, humanities, or a related field preferred
  • Experience working in mental health, behavioral health, healthcare, ABA, or related settings required
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills required
  • Familiarity with adolescent mental health disorders, crisis intervention, and behavioral management strategies preferred
  • Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in high-pressure situations
  • Comfortable working with adolescents and families in a therapeutic setting
  • Experience with EHR/EMR systems and administrative coordination preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and ambulate throughout a clinical office setting
